Mount St. Helens and Spirit Lake. Those silver piles floating are tree trunks that haven't sunk yet. There are thousands more at the bottom of the lake. They were all pulled into the lake as it washed back to its original place like a giant tsunami. When the side of the mountain collapsed, the debris slid into the original lake and pushed it up past where I was standing when I took this image. The water then washed back, only now the lake is 2000 feet higher than before the blast.
